I have owned a number of principal residences over the past 50 years. In every case, I needed a mortgage to make the purchase. The process of getting each mortgage was similar and involved finding a bank, making an application, providing tons of information and then waiting to find out if I qualified for the loan I was seeking. When the bank wanted information, it was always an emergency. When I wanted to know what was happening with my application, that information was no one's priority.

I recently purchased a new principal residence. I was in need of a mortgage, and I needed to close on the property in less than 4 weeks. My realtor and my daughter both recommended that I talk to Bryan Reed at American Portfolio Mortgage. Bryan had this "can do" attitude regarding this challenge. He told me upfront what information he required and right from the start he proactively kept me informed as to where we were in the process. Signing documents was mostly accomplished through an APP, which also showed everything we had done and anything that still needed to be done. The whole mortgage process went very smoothly, and I always knew what was happening.

I rarely write reviews. But in this case, I was so impressed with the whole process and the built in feedback, that I felt compelled to share this with others that might find this helpful. I tend to be stingy with stars, but in this case, 5 stars were well earned.

That’s when we decided to make a change and I am so glad we did!!! Bryan, from the start, was extremely responsive and took the time to answer and explain everything we asked. Even when I asked questions by email thinking he would get to it in the morning, Bryan answered me that evening. Using their website to upload all our documents made the loan process even easier. This really helped since I was out of state for the majority of the loan process. We were able to close in just under a month which was a miracle since we were using a VA loan and appraisal.
